As Singapore’s inaugural inland ash scattering facility, this project is designed as a sanctuary of reflection, balancing an open garden philosophy with a profound sense of serenity and peace. To ensure a respectful and dignified experience, the designated scattering lanes are spaciously arranged and partitioned by lush flowering shrubs and canopy trees, providing families with the essential privacy required for quiet contemplation.

A symbolic planting scheme of alternating yellow and white blooms was intentionally selected to evoke a sense of solemnity and grace. Developed in close collaboration with the NEA, the facility prioritizes accessibility and comfort, featuring shaded seating areas integrated with flowering climber trellises, platform decks for communal gathering, and custom-designed flower racks and water refilling stations at every entry point.

Ultimately, by replacing traditional structures with a living landscape of pebble-lined ash scattering lanes and flowering groundcovers, the design offers a transformative space where the beauty of nature provides a timeless and comforting backdrop for the act of remembrance.
