The State Courts of Singapore

Rising as Singapore’s tallest government building and one of the world’s tallest courthouses, State Courts Tower comprises the Court Tower and Office Tower linked by 39 bridges, occupying the former site of the old State Courts car park. The Podium Roof Garden was conceived as a lush, forest-inspired retreat within the dense Central Business District, featuring low, gentle earth mounds that add visual character while supporting healthy plant growth and erosion control. Dense perimeter planting creates privacy and enclosure, with ginger and Heliconia defining one side and tufted plant compositions shaping the other, offering varied spatial experiences throughout the garden.

Key sightlines from surrounding passageways were carefully curated to form welcoming and calming vistas, while light grey homogenous tiles provide a seamless transition from the interior lobby. Together, these elements transform the podium roof into a serene, restorative landscape that softens the monumental civic architecture and offers a moment of calm within the urban core.
